Like all gifts there by definition must be one who gave it (otherwise it wouldn’t be a gift).

This is known as the giver.

 

We know that marriage is a great gift from God. God, Himself, is the author and giver of marriage.

 

The thing about “gifts” and “givers” is that we never are to confuse one for the other.

It is the greatest of all tragedies when the gift itself is more sought after, more loved, more esteemed, or seen as more valuable than the one who gave it.

 

And so likewise, please know that your presence is the best gift you can bring, for you are more valuable to us than any “thing” that you could get us. And we genuinely mean that. We ask that you feel no obligation to get us something, just bring your sweet self!
